Laxative Weight Loss
The question of whether it is possible to use laxatives to lose weight is much debated among dieters. And there are many factors that a dieter should consider before embarking on an extreme course of laxative to lose weight.
Laxatives are usually taken occasionally to relieve the symptoms of constipation. They work by stimulating the large intestines to expel their contents in a bowel movement. This can help to rid you of stored waste matter, toxins and water, which of course, will affect your weight and to some extent will lessen how much you weigh. This may result in you feeling and looking thinner as a result.
So yes… you can achieve weight loss by taking laxatives.

However, long term laxative use can sometimes border on abuse, and can in some people lead to serious health issues. Therefore before embarking on using laxatives as a long-term strategy for weight loss, we recommend that you are fully aware of the health issues that can occur as a result.
Fast, Safe Weight Loss
Some side effects of extreme laxative use can be dehydration, dizziness or weakness, or an upset in the mineral balance within the body. This leads to lowered levels of sodium, potassium, magnesium, and phosphorus – all needed for proper nerve and muscle functioning. At its very worst, laxative abuse can sometimes cause serious internal organ damage and further medication problems – within the colon or within the liver – or it could lead to colon infections, or IBS.
Therefore, we generally do not advise using laxatives for weight loss.
We feel that because the laxative is taking effect on the food AFTER it has been digested (therefore absorbed into the body by the small intestine) that it is not a great method for long term weight control. It is a bit like trying to control your weight, AFTER you have digested a meal, instead of before it.
Instead, if you are looking to control your weight, we advise taking FDA approved diet pills, such as Phentermine and Sibutramine, or by using a fat blocker, such as Xenical (Orlistat). These work by various means: by controlling or suppressing your appetite, or to speed up your metabolism. Xenical / Orlistat works by blocking the fat BEFORE you have digested the meal, and therefore is much more effective for loosing the pounds and getting rid of fat. And, as they are FDA diet pills, they have been tried and tested as safe options.
Guaranteed Fast Weight Loss
The only time we recommend laxatives for dieters, is during our 10 day – Rapid Weight Loss Plan. This is a short-term weight loss plan only, and has been designed for an upcoming event or special occasion, where you need to look your very best quickly.
It should not be continued beyond the 10 days. After the 10 day period is finished, we recommend that you have put in place a solid, long-term weight loss strategy, which can include diet pills, appetite suppressants, or fat blockers as well as some exercise, and a healthy diet that includes lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole-wheat grains and lean protein in order to promote normal, regular bowel movements. We generally advice all of our dieters to also drink plenty of water, avoid caffeinated drinks and alcohol (to avoid dehydration) while taking laxative, and, if possible, to take a daily green drink made from leafy greens and other naturally wholesome and healthy ingredients.
